Intimacy Between Strangers

Don Feasey, Therapy
In this frank and compelling account of psychotherapy today, Don Feasey focuses on some of the central concepts and current issues in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, examining them with a critical and appraising eye.

Feasey takes the reader into the therapy room and analyses the psychotherapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client. He advocates a close scrutiny of accepted models of therapy and suggests a client- empowering shift of emphasis within psychotherapeutic practice.

The book is based on 25 years of experience as a therapist and is illustrated throughout with engaging vignettes that bring a sense of drama and reality to a life in therapy. It will assist trainee and qualified psychotherapists alike in opening up areas of training practice to a positive and challenging dialogue.

Don Feasey is a psychoanalytical psychotherapist in private practice. He has worked with individuals, couples and groups for 25 years. He was formerly the Principal Sessional Psychotherapist with Salford Health Services and was Principle Lecturer in Education, English and Drama at what is now the University of Central Lancashire, UK. He is the author of several books on good practice in psychotherapy.
